Recently I received my first Zoyas. I was a little reluctant to purchase Zoya polishes, not because I didn't desperately want them but because I wasn't sure how to get them! I actually had to use ebay in the end :(
But I did get the Intimate and Flame collections and I love them both!
Gemma is a stunning sagey green with a very pretty blue/purple shimmer. Spring screams purple and green to me...so I think Gemma is the epitome of Spring colours.
Jules is an old colour in the batch of purple, green and greys. She's a gold taupe. Very pretty and work appropriate. Jules was actually the one I put on first. Then I applied a matte top coat...
I actually really liked Jules matte. Very pretty and muted but with an edge of shimmer.
Greys make me look slightly red...but Dove is very pretty and has an awesome formulae! I really like dove, very soft flattering grey and two coats.
Marley was a hard colour for me to wear, I don't really do light purple tones...I do like Marley, a very pretty pastel with subtle shimmer. Almost a pearl shimmer. Marley was a little thick for me though.
Danni is such a pretty sparkly purple. Sparkly purple, gold shimmer, gorgeous! A much better purple shade on me than Marley.
Caitlin is a stunning grey with a hint of purple. Very flattering. I'm not normally a fan of cremes, but I'm a fan of these Zoya cremes!

Tired, so tired.
Teaching 24 six year olds is so emotionally draining.
I come home each night, cook dinner and crash.
They're just that little bit younger, little bit needier and all want my undivided attention.
They're an awesome class, but tiring me out at the moment!
I haven't painted my nails all week. I haven't even played with my new Essies, four polishes from the spring 2011 collection, or my new OPI...the only Texas polish I ordered, Do You Think I'm Tex-y?
I have however managed to order 11 new Essie polishes, 2 new Orlys, 4 of the China Glaze Crackles and a few top and base coats. I'm good at clicking a few buttons and ordering new things!
And just to make this post worth it...
Lapis of Luxury is a gorgeous, duskier than I expected blue. Awesome formulae, awesome colour. I've just ordered the other two polishes I didn't own from this collection. Hopefully when they arrive I'll be able to put the whole collection in one place. I really am on an Essie kick at the moment.

Polish Name Dropping
The other day my Katy Perry polishes arrived in the mail. Unfortunately my black shatter...was well shattered.
It always surprises me when a polish breaks, but an OPI polish? those bottles are solid, and it was wrapped in so much bubble wrap. I can't see how it was broken.
Luckily I also received the Serena Williams polishes...which included Black Shatter.
Nick made me laugh so much. It was one of those "my mums better than your mum" kind of scenarios.
A girl he works with was talking about nail polish, so my darling pipes up and asks if she's heard of the new Katy Perry OPIs because his partner has them and she has black shatter.
Hahahaha. He hated black shatter when I showed him. He loved watching it dry, but didn't like it on me.
Though he still feels the need to name drop it! The Katy Perry polishes are not available in NZ and I'm not sure if they will be. None of the OPI displays I've seen had room for the Katy Perry or the Texas. So they need to do some serious reshuffling!
I was surprised by how much I like the One That Got Away. Such a gorgeous deep pinky colour. Very sparkly and very pretty.
I didn't love Not Like the Movies as much as I thought I would. It's a very pretty silver duo polish with silver flecks, but it's not so good with my skin tone in my opinion.

Shindig
I love Firefly. I didn't know about it when it was on TV. To be honest I'm not sure it made it to TV in New Zealand before it was released on DVD. I was one of those people who made DVD sales good enough to make a movie. I love Serenity as well!
I now own both Serenity and Firefly on Bluray and have passed my loved DVDs on to mum.
I find it difficult to choose a favourite episode, but Shindig is definitely one of my most watched and all time favourites. Frilly dresses, parties, duals, cockney bad guys, captain tight pants and sword fights....what's not to love!
So when I saw an Essie polish called Shindig on Ebay...well I just had to have it! I wasn't expecting mush, after all I did just buy it for the name. I was however pleasantly surprised with Shindig. The colour is a pretty coral with shimmer. It took three coats till I was happy, but that's normal!
It stunk! No seriously it really stunk. I'd doubt it was 3-free! It really did smell that bad. But it is awesome, it looks good with my skin tone and it's called Shindig!

Lippmann Glitters
On Saturday I was so excited and couldn't wait to try my new Lippmann glitters. I had high hopes for some sunshine, it is Summer after all. Unfortunately, no sun, but I did try out my new glitters!
Today Was A Fairytale is such a stunning polish. Blue grey base with the sparkliest silver glitter I have ever seen. Today Was a Fairytale contains virgin diamond powder. In all honesty I don't know what that is, but if it helps it sparkle...then I like it. This is definitely a special occasion polish that I will leave for layering.
I really liked Today Was a Fairytale, but both these stunning glitter polishes are going in my special occasion stash. I don't want to ever run out!
Boom Boom Pow id more delicate and does not have as much coverage as Today Was a Fairytale. I really like that Boom Boom Pow isn't just a gold version of Today Was a Fairytale. Boom Boom Pow contains 24k gold dust. I'm going to guess that the gold dust is the pretty delicate gold shimmer.
Boom Boom Pow does layer up nicely, but I doubt I'll wear it alone. Only because I don't want to use it all! I actually like the look of it alone, kind of magical...

Nubar Wedding Possibilities
Ever since we got engaged...2 whole months ago...I've been on the look out for the perfect wedding day polish.
We're getting married on July 22nd, the middle of our winter. But we're going to Rarotonga...sunshine!
So my hands will be pasty, but I need something summery...
For some reason getting the perfect nail polish is really important to me, even though I have no idea what I want!
I ordered some Nubars to test and they arrived a few days ago.
None of the polishes turned out how I thought they would, and I don't think they're my 'wedding polish'.
As you can see Pink Cami is very sheer. Very pretty, but very sheer. It's a very soft delicate pink with slight green shimmer. It might work better if I did a french manicure, but my nail tips are so long compared the rest of my nail I always feel a little weird about doing a french.
Blushing Bride is such a pretty pearly, shimmey pink. It's too pink though! Well too pink for a wedding polish for me. That's not going to stop me wearing it when ever else I can. I really do like Blushing Bride, it's just not my wedding polish.
Tulle is a very pretty glitter. It'sslighty yellow based, so brings out the yellow in my nails when worn alone, but it is a stunning layering polish. Tulle is a very sweet fine glitter. Just like a sugar coating!

I threw PYT, Pretty Young Thing on straight away. So pretty!!!
Four coats. Yes she's a sheer one, but she's so pretty!
I can't wait to play with Today was a Fairy Tale and Boom Boom Pow. But I have to clean the house first :(
Hopefully there'll be some sun out for decent pics!
