Gimikd Girl on Facebook

I finally got around to setting up a facebook page for my little blog.

You'll find it at http://www.facebook.com/GimikdGirl

At the moment I see it more as a swatch library. I've spent this morning uploading pics, filed under brands. currently you'll find Dollish Polish, Girly Bits, Lush Lacquer, BB Couture, Orly, Zoya and a-England swatches. Most are labeled, but I'm still working on that!

All That Glitters: Princess Nails!

I'm currently sitting in my classroom watching Aladdin with almost 40 children, dressed as Snow White.

What better time to post all my swatches of the All That Glitters Princess polishes. I've already posted some of theses gorgeous polishes, but the rest arrived in the mail recently... So mega spam post!

In other news the most popular polishes from the Wizard of Ooh Ahz for the girls was Ruby Pumps and my boys all seemed to love The Ten Man. A couple of girls went for Good Witch and the principal wanted C-c-courage. When I get home I'll post my Snow White nails... Dorothy Who, Cowardly Lyin' and Ruby Pumps.

NZ Bloggers!

Last week I posted about Michaela's blog Nail Polish Anon

We ended up talking about an alliance of NZ polish bloggers, similar to what we've seen from the Aussie, American and British bloggers. You know the drill....cute logo, name and slogan and links to each others blogs. Maybe the occasional challenge or swap-a-thon.

I read a lot of blogs, but I'm not always sure of which are NZ blogs. So if you have a blog, are from New Zealand and would like to be part of a group....

Let me know :)

Send me an email at am_e85@hotmail.com and link me to your blog so I can follow you...if I'm not already!

Ozotic Sugar 901

Zomg!

Cotton candy for your nails. That basically sums up my opinion of Ozotics new 901 Sugar. Well it would if cotton candy was gorgeously glossy and shifted colour from pink to orange to gold...with some purple thrown in along the way.

I was highly excited to arrive home from work to find this gorgeous polish in the mail to review. I actually couldn't wait to try Sugar 901 out and applied a coat straight over my mani for the day, China Glaze Exotic Encounters.

Ozotic Sugar 901

This was one coat of Sugar 901 over Exotic Encounters. As you can see it is incredibly glossy, these pics are with out top coat. At one coat it dried fast and applied evenly.

Unfortunately it was 4.30pm, rather overcast and raining when I tried to take these pictures in the last remaining light through our french doors.

Hopefully in the weekend the weather will clear up so I can play with this beauty more. I can't wait to play with 901 over other colours. I think it looks stunning over the green of Exotic Encounters... I wonder how it'll go over a dusty periwinkle... and of course I want to try it over black and white and by it's self.... Definitely going to keep me occupied!

Now to get my hands on Sugar 902.... mmm....purple...

If you'd like to get your hands on any of the new Sugar and beam 900 line from Ozotics go and check out Gracie Lou. I mean seriously people Ozotics for $15.50 New Zealand dollars... that's amazing value.

China Glaze: Con-fused

Argh. Why does the weather keep changing?

I've been wearing sandals and summery dresses (with cardigans) all week. Then about 4pm yesterday in comes the rain again. It looks pretty grey so far this morning...so back to winter boots for me.

I just want sunshine! I can't wait to bring out the shorts.

I guess i'm in a super summery mood because the term finishes tomorrow. That means holidays! Which mean a lot of work for me....but it also means that there is one more term left of school this year... The summer term! I can't wait for all the awesome outdoorsy stuff we have planned for next term.

Anyway less of me rambling and on to some polish.

I mentioned last week that I placed an order with Gracie Lou and it arrived the very same day. One of the polishes I ordered was China Glaze Con-fused. I wasn't really as drawn to this second collection of Magnetix as I was the first. There were only two polishes I really wanted. Con-fused was one that I felt I needed. I'm feeling like green is a colour that is not as well represented in my collection.

Con-fused
Con-fused is a nice enough green. For some odd reason I had issues with the magnet when i was swatching, so this is actually 3 coats. Normally I'd do two coats. I just couldn't seem to get the magnetic right though. It may have been lack of recent practice, it's been awhile since I've worn a magnetic. I just couldn't get the magnet centered. That's definitely user error not polish or magnet error though!

It's good to see some bright magnetics. The first collection was rather dull. Colour Club has some nice brights as well, but not a nice bright green like Con-fused.

If you'd like to pick up any of the second collection of Magnetix you'll find them at Gracie Lou.

China Glaze: Wizard of Ooh Ahz (Again)

Yesterday I mentioned that I had re-swatched a bunch of China Glaze collections. The Wizard of Ooh Ahz collection was one I mentioned. Then I remembered I'd never posted the swatches!

The Wizard of Ooh Ahz was one of the first full collections I bought. I was drawn in by the glitter and Wizard of Oz theme.

The Ten Man

Cowardly Lyin'

Good Witch

C-c-courage

Dorothy Who

Ruby Pumps
And even though it's not part of the 6 piece collection....

Here's Emerald Sparkle.

Emerald Sparkle
I've promised the girls in my class (all 10 of them, yeah I have more boys than girls) that I'll paint their nails on the last day of term. We are having a fairy tale themed day to end our narrative writing unit. I plan on wearing a princess dress...
Anyway I wanted to take a set of polishes, something with glitter, that looked princesses polish... (my class have taken to guessing which princess my polish is inspired by).
I think these polishes will be perfect!

China Glaze: Kaleidoscope (Again)

Every now and then I get the urge to re-swatch polishes. So far this year I've re-swatched the China Glaze Rodeo Diva collection, Wizard of Ooh Ahz and now the Kaleidoscope collection.

I was very fortunate to find half of the Kaleidoscope collection on Trade Me a couple of years a go. The rest I've picked up from ebay and blog sales.

I think I may have to re-swatch the OMG polishes I own today when I do my polish swatch-a-thon on the deck! Polish swatching and cocktails? Sounds like a plan!
