Vintage Vixen

Seeing as I'm on a bit of a China Glaze kick lately, heres some more!

I ordered the Cats Meow set from the Vintage Vixen collection. I love 4 out of 6 of the polishes. One really surprised me I didn't expect to love it so much. The Vintage Vixen collection is another collection I see cartoon characters for. I may just have to draw them!

Emerald Fitzgerald, Midnight Mission, First Class Ticket, Riveter Rouge, Going My Way and Classic Camel.

Emerald Fitzgerald is a beautiful green with a smokey tealness to it. I imagine her as a sophisticated lady in a long satin bias cut dress, gathered in all the right places of course! I love this colour and it applied smoothly. I almost thought I might get away with one coat.

Midnight Mission.
My favourite of the collection. I was trying out my new polishes and when I put on Midnight Mission I didn't want to take her off. I walked round our house with 4 fingers painted saying "ohhh it's so pretty". Dark blue, yet not so dark that it looks black, with silver shimmery glitter. So pretty. As soon as I'd finished playing I painted my nails with Midnight Mission, then matched my dress to it.

First Class Ticket.
First Class Ticket was one of my not love so much polishes from this collection. I love purple, I love blue, but I'm not really into that blurpley purple. It's a pretty colour, but I'm not feeling it. At all. You can tell I don't like it just from the picture. Look at that careless application!

Riveter Rouge.
I wasn't sure I was going to like Ms. Riveter. I'm not too fond of wearing reds, but Riveter Rouge is gorgeous. A very Christmasy looking shimmery red with tiny gold sparkles of glitter in it. Riveter Rogue doesn't dry smooth like Midnight Mission does though. It drys a tad bumpy, but a thick top coat is a small price to may. Of course I imagine Riveter Rouge all dressed up in her Riveter Rosie boiler. Unfortunately my sun hid behind a cloud while I was taking pictures.

Going My Way.
My surprise of the group. I thought I would hate Going My Way. I thought it wouldn't suit my skin tone. I thought that it would be drab. I thought so wrong. Going My Way is beautiful. It's a brown with golden shimmers and is stunning. It is truly a 'lit from within' Polish. And yes, if going my way asked, I would be going its way!

Classic Camel
Classic Camel is my second dislike of the set. It's just not right on me. Yes I know it's unusual but I just can't do it. Sure it's pretty enough in the bottle and even a nice enough colour on the nail, but then I looked at my whole hand and no. Classic Camel reminds me of honey mustard with shimmer. Yes the shimmer is very delicate and oh so pretty, but no matter how delicious honey mustard is on my sandwich I'm not keen on it on my nails. I imagine Classic Camel to be a lady in a gorgeous fall coat, ready for a walk through the park or a trip to the country side. I'm sure she'd be lovely, but I'm just not feeling it.

Wizard of Ooh Ahz...Again

It was a 'lovely' cloudy day yesterday. The sun popped out occasionally and then it rained and it rained and it rained.

Being stuck inside by the french doors, which let so much light and warmth into our living room, I decided to play with some of my new China Glazes.

A frosty yellow with gold sparkles. I don't think I can call it gold. It definitely yellow in my mind. Not my favourite colour, I'm actually considering getting rid of it. This was four coats. Yes it's goopy because I was impatient, if I'd been patient maybe 3 coats would have been enough.

Ok so looking at the pictures it's not that bad...but I still don't like it.

The Ten Man.
Another one I didn't like. I just didn't have a good experience with it! This is 4 coats, yes again I was impatient. I just wanted to get a picture and get it off. That's how much I didn't like it. It's pretty enough, but if I want a near white silver I have much better polishes. I'm just not feeling The Ten Man or Cowardly Lyin.

C-c-courage.
I'm feeling this one alot more. It's a gorgeous purple and has purple glitter. Yes it dries bumpy and I have to top coat the crap out of it, but I don't care it's purple and glittery. I wore it to school on Friday, my girls loved it. I had a few jealous 8 year olds.

Good Witch.
Oh how I love Good Witch. It's pink and its glittery. It's perfectly girly and fluffy. It makes me think of Galinda in Wicked. I'm popular with my girls if I wear Good Witch. It's the perfect shade of pink I have been searching for, and it has glitter. Did I mention there's glitter! Not silver or gold, but pink glitter. It's amazing. I'm in love, move over Nick!

Dorothy Who?
I can imagine Dorothy done up like Sandy at the end of grease. Black leather and blue glitter though, with big auburn hair. Yes I have an over active imagination, but I can see cartoon characters for each of these polishes...maybe one day I'll draw them and put them on here! I'll have to wait until my computer is back from the loan to my parents. Nick's just isn't the same for doing design work on. Dorothy who? Blue glitter, blue jelly, love.

Ruby Pumps.
I've said it before I'm not a red person, but Ruby Pumps is ever so pretty. I can see why it's a firm favourite of many. I myself plan to wear it to Nick's Christmas function next weekend, while dressed as Snow White. It's going to look so pretty! Lets hope I don't get too happy and talk too much about my pretty nails! Anyway Ruby Pumps, red glitter, red jelly, delicious! On a side note Up until my teenage years I always thought of pumps as sneakers. Hahaha silly me and my English mum calling my shoes pumps.

Up and Away: Pastels

As I said earlier the pastels don't do much for me. I doubt I'll keep any of them, they seem to make my hands red or dead!

Yes it's a sweet pink, but no it doesn't look good on me. The application was fine, I was happy with the polish its self but blah pastels.

Light As Air.
Well Light As Air made my hands look dead, not really my colour. Once again the polish its self fantastic, but yucky pastels.

So much promise a minty fresh green, but blah it's too pale. I know some people love pastels, I just don't!

Lemon Fizz.
Lemon Fizz was the only pastel I thought I might be able to wear, but I love Happy Go Lucky so much more that when I compare them I just think blah pastels. Yes I'm not pastels biggest fan!

Peachy Keen.
Peachy Keen wasn't so much peachy and delicious but more a paled orange. I wouldn't exactly class it as a pastel, but I still didn't really like it. It brought out the orange tone in my hands and made me feel like I had a bad tan job and got my nails to match!

Sugar High.
Sugar High isn't a pastel, I just included it to make 2 even posts of 6 colours. I like things to be even. I love Sugar High it's a bright pink that looks fantastic. I love pink cremes and this one is fabulous.

Up and Away...

I'd love to go up in a hot air balloon, I just think it would be magical looking down on the earth, seeing the patchwork of land, with out the barrier of glass. I love flying. I have to have a window seat when I fly, the one time I didn't get a window seat I freaked. I couldn't see, and I need to see.

The China Glaze Up and Away collection for Spring 2010 came out ages ago, but it's only just appropriate here. Yay for spring and sunshine. Bring on Summer!

The Up and Away collection consists of 12 polishes. 5 pastels and 7 brights. I consider Sugar High to be a bright rather than a pastel but I've put it with the pastels to make an even 6 in each part.

The Pastels: Sugar High, Peachy Keen, Lemon Fizz, Re-fresh Mint, Light as Air and Something Sweet.

The Brights: Heli-yum, High Hopes, Happy Go Lucky, Four Leaf Clover, Flyin' High and Grape Pop

I love the brights, but I can't say I'm loving the pastels. Pastels don't go so well with my skin tone, and the only one I think I may be able to wear happily is Lemon Fizz. Brights on the other hand look fantastic on me. I love every single one of them!

For Audrey

The name Audrey makes me giggle. Ever since I was little we have named our cars.
I cried on one teachers knee that my parents were selling Faith. Unfortunately for my teacher she didn't realise Faith was the white station wagon, she got quite worried. My car is called Zippy for it's ZI licence plate, mum and dad's old car was called big bird, because it was a people mover. Their new car had a AUN registration, but for some odd reason the name that stuck was Audrey.
Cars are girls, theres no question.

Today For Audrey arrived in a lovely package for me along with Golden Enchantment, Liquid Leather and Mummy May I. I'm not sure I like For Audrey, maybe it'l grow on me, it is one of my favourite shades of blue.

Cosmic FX...Part 2!

At lunch today I was looking at buying some polish from ebay, when one of my year 3 girls came in to ask a question. She got sidetracked by the pretty pictures on my computer screen and forgot her question before exclaiming “are you buying more nail polish?” in a tone much like my mother uses. 

Talking about more nail polishes the second part to the Orly Cosmic FX collection arrived today. The bright colours.

Haleys Comet went straight onto my toes, replacing OPI the Show Must Go On. I don’t own any of the dupes so it was a must have for me. Gorgeous shimmery turquoise. Turquoise is one of my favourite colours, my old room was bright turquoise.

Lunar Eclipse is a very rich blue. Gorgeous, but not quite me. I'm not sure how often I'll wear it, but I do love the colour! Maybe I'll have to find a reason to wear it.

It's Not Rocket Science. It's not me? I'm not really into colours so ugly they're pretty. It's Not Rocket Science isnt exactly ugly...but it's kind of slime green, not all that pretty!

Wizard of Ooh Ahz...

After I left mum and dads yesterday another parcel arrived with the mail man.

It was a very exciting parcel containing the six polishes in the Wizard of Ooh Ahz collection. On first impressions I love all the colours, but think they’ll need a heavy duty top coat.

I applied Good Witch straight away. Absolutely beautiful. I’m a pink girl and this is the perfect shade of pink I’ve been searching for. Even better, it has glitter!
