OPI: Retro Fun in the Sun

Today is my first official day of summer. School finished yesterday and between writing reports, moving classrooms and generally stressing out...I can finally breathe again!

Moving classrooms is not a fun job. No one wants to come in and do it after school has finished. So you end up doing it in the last couple of days before school finishes. The kids are generally high as kites and the teachers slightly grumpy. Not a good mix. Luckily my mum is a wonderful lady who was very generous to spend all Wednesday afternoon at school with me helping me move things to my new classroom. The year 5 boys were wonderful and helped move the furniture for me on Thursday morning and my kids were pretty good as the hung out in the library until the final assembly.

Although today is the first official day of my summer...the weather is shocking. it's raining and just basically wet and miserable. The collection I have to show you today is a summery fun collection full of sunshine...doesn't really fit the day...but i can dream of the beaches in Rarotonga!

So here is the OPI Retro Fun in the Sun collection and oldie, but a goodie.

Peach-a-Boo!

Six fun and summery shimmer shades. I really like the collection. Yes they are unbearable sheer but i love adding them on top of a jelly or a creme for a bit of instant shimmer. The blue, Sea ya Later, Sailor and the green, Sit Under the Apple Tree are so fun to layer with. I particularly like layering them over neutral greys, browns and khaki tones.

Now I'm off to head into school and retrieve the Christmas tree from my new classroom. I promised mum she could have it for Christmas. Talking off Christmas trees I'll post my one soon...I'm very proud of it.

China Glaze: Martini Pedicure

Seriously I love that China Glaze put out two collections with alcoholic names. Tequila Toes and Martini Pedicure. It's probably bad though that the names and colours make me want to sit and sun myself outside with delicious cocktails.

In my head I've begun to call these polishes the alcoholic polishes. Martini Pedicure and Tequila Toes just take too long to write!

Anyway today I'll be showing the polishes that I ave from the Martini Pedicure collection. I picked these up recently on ebay and have five polishes from the collection. I'm missing Martini Lunch...but haven't found it for a price that I'm willing to pay.

Tarnished and Varnished

 I've seen Tarnished and Varnished compared to Cherry Pie. Personally I think that Tarnished and Varnished is lighter and filled with more delicious glass flakes. The glass flakes appear to be whiter... Either way it's pretty and justifiable to own both... or give Cherry Pie to your mum like I did...if you think your partner can't tell the difference and complains you have two the same.

Martini Pedicure

 Oh how I love Martini Pedicure. This is my favourite kinda of colour. Aqua/blue/green/turquoise tones are my favourites and if it has glass flecks even better! Martini Pedicure disappointed me to start with. It was so pretty in the bottle but so wishy washy on my nails. Four coats later and it was perfection.

Straight Up

 Straight Up is sheer, but it's so darn pretty. Straight Up makes me think of princess nails. Cinderella...

Sass in a Glass

 Sass in a Glass is gorgeous sexy dark bright pink. It's an amazing colour and has glass flecks... I used three coats. Just drool!

Shaken Not Stirred

Shaken Not Stirred is the reason I have this collection. I searched it on ebay hoping I would find it... and I found so much else! Shaken Not Stirred is a stunning pinky/purple with the same gorgeous silvery white glass flecks. The shimmer is just amazing on this one!

I'm so glad to have these polishes in my collection and will be rocking them all summer...especially for those Summer BBQs... When I'll be holding cocktails to match my nails...

Summer Days

Summer has kicked in! We've hardly had a cloudy day for the last 3 weeks. I'm starting to get a sandal tan, and have a lovely designer bracelet, watch strap tan. Nick tells me white however isnt a shade of tan :(

A polish collection that is one of my favourites is the Summer Days collection from China glaze in 2009. Unfortunately it doesn't wear very well on me. All the polishes are rather sheer and need 3 coats, but most importantly they are all glass flecked!

 Orange Marmalade is a stunning bright orange with golden glass flecks. It's a beautiful colour that looks amazing for summer. There's something about orange polish that screams summer to me.

 Cherry Pie is a reddish orange polish that seems to have light pinky glass flecks in it. It'd not one of the colours I would usually wear, but it's still rather pretty and I do like the name!

Raspberry Festival is the pinky red in the collection. Laced with pink glass flecks it reminds me of a raspberry Popsicle. That fake raspberry that you find in confectionery. mmm....sugar!

Strawberry Fields is an amazing pink colour. It's so stunning. Bright pink with golden glass flecks. It's just so pretty. 

Grape juice does remind me of an ice cold juice. I'm not sure it's the colour of grapes though! The silver glass flecks do remind me of a refreshing beverage though.

I tried to get away with only using two coats of Watermelon Rind, and you can see why you need to use three coats for these polishes! Watermelon Rind is a pretty blue tinged green that looks very edible even if I don't eat the rinds of watermelons myself!

OPI Flit a Bit

My nail polish today is a stunning orange creme, Flit a Bit, from OPI's summer collection this year.

I purchased three of the four colours from the collection. Flit a Bit, Wing it! and Flower to Flower. I love the three I own. I passed on Catch me in your Net, I'm kinda lazy when it comes to glittery nail polishes and the removal, and by the time I wanted it, it was harder to find! Oh well I do have Orly Halley's Comet.

Flit a Bit is a very pretty orange creme, It's the perfect orange, I wouldn't call it yellowed or reddened. Just orange. I love it, so bright and cheerful for summer.

 It looks yellowed in these pictures. That's odd. Its very orange on my nails!

Hmm....Different lighting, it looked more orange on my camera screen, but then on here it looks washed out again! I give up. The top picture shows the dress, and reason why I decided to wear Flit a Bit today!
