Orly: Naughty or Nice

A quick post this morning. I'll be back later in te afternoon for a longer post. Hopefully my shopping expedition goes well!

Another set of polishes I ordered in November for the upcoming holiday season were three of  the Orly Naughty or Nice collection.

I ordered them as a set and they came with lace gloves... that may or may not be used for a Halloween  A costume is the only thing I can see them being used for. Maybe the juniors at school would like them for their dress up.

Anyway on to polish!

Miss-conduct
Miss-conduct received a lot of hype in polish land. A holo tends to do that though! Miss-conduct is pretty enough and I will most definitely be wearing it a bit... but it didn't steal my heart.

Angel Eyes
Angel Eyes on the other hand did steal my heart. What can I say I have a thing for blues. I was unimpressed by Angel Eyes in the bottle... but at three coats on the nail I'm in love love love. Look at those pretty iridescent glitters mixed in with the blue.

Halo
Halo is another I didn't feel much for when I saw it in the bottle. But on the nail Halo surprised me. I actually really like the subtle bling. If bling can ever be subtle! Once again this was three coats. In the sun it looks as though you could see a lot of my natural nail... but in all honesty that's just my camera. The bling of the glitter hid my nail quite happily.

Orly Sashay My Way

Argh! I'm feeling so frustrated.

I spent all holidays (2 weeks) eating mostly healthy. Hardly ever going over my set calorie intake. Exercising everyday, walking and using the elliptical...

And do you think I lost weight? Nope!

Argh! The scales should lie, it would be so much more motivating to see them going down. Instead they went down, then up, then up. They really need to start moving back down now!
I'm not giving up... but it would have been nice to have something to show for my effort this holiday.
There's only 3 weeks until Nicks work function. I'd like to look awesome in my dress lol.

Today I have a sparkly goody from Orly. Sashay My Way is a gold bar and hex holo glitter from the Flash Glam FX collection. So it's the only one I have bought.

Orly Sashay My Way over 2 coats of CG Near Dark. I only did 2 coats as I knew I wanted to jelly sandwich it!
And now my sandwich!

I really loved how murky Near Dark was in contrast to the bling of Sashay My Way.
Near Dark is not a good colour to photograph in bright sunshine!
not that I'm complaining... Bring on Summer. Only 9 and 1/2 weeks to go until summer holidays...

Darling Diva Polish: The Opera House

Today is the last day of the holidays.
Wow, two weeks goes so fast. At least the bad weather that we had yesterday seems to have passed.
Although it would have been nice not to have that awful rain! We were helping Nicks brother move house and the wind and rain didn't help.

I had planned to post all my DDP polishes this week... but I forgot to!
So today I have The Opra House for you.

The Opera House layered over Orly Au Champagne
THe Opera House is a very pretty combination of gold and pearly white glitters. Although the base is loaded with pearly white shimmer I decided to layer it rather than try and build up opacity. I really enjoyed this combination.

Orly: Holiday Soiree

I'm a tad moody at the moment. My knee is really hurting me in the evenings. Nick sent me to bed at 7pm last night. Good thing school is almost over and then I'll be truly resting it. I might even have time to actually cook. That will be awesome!

Anyways Christmas isn't so far off, so here's another Christmas collection, Orly Holiday Soiree

Le Chateau

Androgynie

Oui!

Au Champagne

I only bought four polish of the six available. I just didn't need another red or Rally Pretty Pink/Faye look alike. I was a little worried that Oui! would be too close to OPI It's My Year, but I was pleasantly surprised. Oui! is much richer and more purple.

ORLY Happy Go Lucky

I am loving Orly at the moment. Until recently I had the Cosmic FX polishes and a couple of neutrals...now I'm going a little crazy adding to my collection, there are just so many gorgeous polishes that Orly is releasing. I've picked up the Pinup collection, three polishes from Birds of a Feather, ordered four from the new Christmas collection, two polishes from the Mineral FX collection and purchased all four of the Happy Go Lucky collection. I really have been busy adding to my Orly stash.

The Happy Go Lucky collection is, just as the name states, a very happy collection of polishes. Having a bad day? Apply one of these polishes, stare at your nails constantly and you'll be feeling better in no time. Just don't stare and drive...that could make your day worse :S
Not that I had a close call with the gutter whilst driving and staring...

Three of the four polishes in thecollection are stunningly bright cremes. Not neons just gorgeously bright happy colours. The last polish is an amazing shimmer. I've used two coats for each polish, but if you're careful you could get away with one. I'm not careful.

Frolic
Frolic is an amazing bright happy purple. Of course I haven't managed to capture it accurately at all. It's a purple! If purples started photographing accurately we'd all know the world was coming to an end. Of course it's more of a red based purple than a blue, but all my camera wants to do is pull out the blue tones.

Frisky
Frisky...oh how I love Frisky! Bright blue. A smidgen of aquaness so it's not too blue. I can't stop staring at Frisky and wondering how they got such a gorgeous light bright blue...and no hint of yicky pastel. Pastel makes my hands look horrible and reminds me of chalk of which I have a slightly irrational fear. I can't even wear matte polish, it creeps me out.

Fresh
I'm not the biggest fan of green polish, I prefer teal and aqua tones, but wow, Fresh is amazing. Bright fresh green. The colour you'd use to colour in grass when you were little. I even like the way Fresh looks on me.

Flirty
Flirty is my favourite of the collection. It's truly a flirty colour. Bright pink with gorgeous shimmer... could be a one coater... pink with out being boring... so many good things about this polish. Flirty is amazing, even if you hate pink you need Flirty.

I should be back to posting more regularly this coming week. I spent most of last week sick with some kind of evil cold. I just started feeling good again on Friday. At least I'm healthy for the school holidays in a weeks time. I've swatched a large chunk of my untrieds now and can't wait to get them posted, but I left my camera at school! So hopefully I remember to bring it home on Monday...opps!

ORLY Birds of a Feather

I've self diagnosed myself to be suffering from end-of-school-term-itis. I'm tired and achey, moody and headachey and my voice is going in and out. It's most definitely near the the end of term. The kids are all tired and cranky as well. Normally it would be the school holidays now, but thanks to the Rugby World Cup we still have 2 weeks to go.

I was very excited for the Orly Birds of a Feather collection. A purple toned flakey? Shimmery blue? they sound like my kind of colours! I rushed to Fowl Play as soon as I knew it was out. Sweet Peacock had to wait a couple of weeks but there was a buy one get one free special on Orly so I was determined to have Sweet Paecock and Nite Owl. I thought that Nite Owl would be the easy one to find...wrong. There were none left at all, anywhere that I looked. So I picked my Sweet Peacock and a bottle of Fowl Play for mum. Yup there was a bottle of Fowl Play but no Nite Owl!

Last week I wondered into Farmers on the off chance there could be something I wanted, I had a $20 beauty club voucher. Revlon display...nothing, Butter London...nothing, Opi...nothing. And then I thought I'd try one last time for Nite Owl at the Orly display. The Birds of a Feather display was long gone but a bottle hidden in the core collection caught my eye...Nite Owl! Someone had stuffed it in the back...but it was mine now.

Anyway enough rambling on to pictures!

Fowl Play

Nite Owl

Sweet Peacock
All three polishes are so different and I'd most definitely say they were must haves. I didn't feel the need to purchase the other three in the collection but pictures I've seen look gorgeous. All in all Orly had a winner with this collection.

A Busy Week and Haulage!

Wow! I couldn't have imagined what a busy week this week would end up being.

School is crazy as parent teacher conferences are coming up, It was Nicks birthday on Thursday, Nick had his work conference this weekend, we also had to babysit the cat while my parents were at a funeral and then pick them up this afternoon. We were supposed to do food shopping...but it started hailing so I decided against that.
I've also being working on putting the wedding photos into a photobook. I had a coupon that gave me a 40 page book for $35 instead of $109....but it expired on the 9th of August. Luckily I finished that today. Now I should probably start on the masses of written comments I need to do for every child for the parent teacher confrences. Seriously National Standards are not cool.

Anyway haulage! These are the parcels that were waiting for me when I arrived home from Rarotonga. It was Christmas! I'm still waiting on an order with some Zoyas to arrive...but everything else came :)

The first lot was a Beauty Joint order of Klean Colors and Nyx lipsticks.

Metallic Black, Orange, Fuschia, Purple, Sapphire, Aqua and Green.

Black, Bridal Shower, Winter Wonderland, Holo Chrome, Glamour Barbie and 2012  Apocalypse.

Nyx Round lipsticks in Tweed, Chic, Hot Pink and Chic Red.

Nyx Matte lipstick in Strawberry Daiquri and Black labels in Adore and Plum.
Then I had a few ebay orders.

Orly Pin-up minis.

OPI Grape...Set...Match, Your Royal Shine-ness and Serving Up Sparkle.

Orly Fowl Play and China Glaze Fortune Teller
Ok so I bought Orly Fowl Play before we left but I had taken a picture of it yet and Fortune Teller looked lonely. I plan to buy Nite Owl and Peacock from the Orly Birds of a Feather collection tomorrow. Buy one get one free at Farmers!

Hopefully this coming week I'll get time to post pics of my holiday nails, the awards I haven't forgotten about, a few more wedding snaps and holiday pics. Rartonga was so beautiful that I must keep sharing.

Hard Decisions!

Thank you everyone for your kind messages yesterday. I spent a large amount of today in bed, my nose has been running like a tap and my sinuses are hurting. I saw some drugs at the supermarket for sinus and sinus related headaches...but when I read the back it said I couldn't take my other drugs with them. So I'm sticking to ibuprofen and my antibiotics.

I did manage to get out of bed today, around 2pm, and finish packing. My case weighed in at 26kg when we weighed it... opps! I'm allowed 23kg. After some juggling between cases, Nicks weighed in at 17kg,  and putting some unneeded things back, my case now weighs 22kg.

One of the hardest decisions I had to make was which polishes to take with me. I pulled all my summer polishes out and swatched and finally narrowed my selection down...

I'll start with the wedding polishes.

BB Couture Tink Pink
OPI So Many Clowns...So Little Time
For my own nails I plan to wear So Many Clowns...So Little Time and Tink /Pink. I love the pretty sparkle of Tink Pink and So Many Clowns just makes it look fresher and more striking. It eliminates that visible nail line.

China Glaze For Audrey
What would a wedding be without For Audrey. For Audrey will grace my toes as I walk down the beach in my little white sandals.

Orly Taffy
Taffy is the polish that my Bidesmaid chose for her nails. She's not a big polish wearer so a nice soft colour with a hint of shimmer is perfect for her.

And of course I plan to be wearing polish on the other days as well...so here are the polishes I've chosen to take for the holiday. I was dying to take my holo's...but had a bit of a rethink...and decided not to take anything too precious.

China Glaze Blue Iguana
China Glaze Papaya Punch
OPI Catch Me in Your Net
OPI The One That Got Away
China Glaze Gamer Glam
China Glaze High Def
I'm also taking Sinful Colours Thimbleberry, my new go to coral. I just haven't taken pictures of it yet.

I tried to choose polishes that were no mess 2 coaters. But I couldn't resist taking Catch Me in Your Net and Blue Iguana. They'll look so pretty under the sun.

Thank You

I have two awesome people say a massive thank you to today.

On Monday Liz from Liquid Jelly tagged me for the Kreative Blogger award.
If you haven't checked out Liz's blog you totally should. She posted a very awesome universe inspired mani on Monday.
I've already done the 10 facts about me last week...but I wanted to say thank you. It's always so nice to get an award! It's like my class in school assembly, they get so excited about the certificates that are handed out. Well I got very excited to be given an award!

The other person I need to thank is Sam. I received a very awesome package, that was bigger than I was expecting!

Sam was kind enough to offer to send me a bottle of Revlon Perplex. So I jumped up and down, did a little dance, and said yes please! I sent her 2 of the BYS colour change polishes (which I hope she loves).

Instead of one polish, Sam sent me 6! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Orly Starry-eyed and Limelite, Revlon Perplex, Duri Dirty Dancing and Orly Rockin Rockette and Winter Wonderland
