Australis

I'm slowly getting over my buyers remorse...ok so it didn't last long. Look at these pretties I got from Australis! Australis is one of the less expensive brands of nail polish available in New Zealand. Kind of along the lines of the Rimmel polishes and slightly less expensive than Maybelline. At $11.50 it's more or less reasonable. OPI's retail for $24.90. Yes nail polish prices in New Zealand are crazy.

These first two polishes are limited edition polishes, boringly named Limited Edition 1 and Limited Edition 2.

Limited Edition 1 with natural light
Limited Edition 1 with flash
Limited Edition 1 was a difficult polish to photograph, at least while the sun was hiding from me. It is a dark taupe with purple shimmer...sound familiar? I wish I could compare it to Perplex...but alas...Limited Edition will have to kill my craving! 2 coats.

Limited Edition 2
Limited Edition 2 looks like it takes its inspiration from another polish as well. Radioactive green slime in colour with a subtle shimmer. This is 2 coats. A very interesting colour to wear, I actually found it to be very flattering. Unfortunately macro wasn't very flattering on my skin. Nick commented my fingers look old. I've been doing a lot of art with the kids and that involves a lot of cleaning brushes and immersing my fingers in yucky paint water.

Sin City
Sin City was included in the display with the two limited edition polishes. It is described as a black with opal glitter. A very pretty colour, black and trendy yet a more subtle version of black. Was almost a one coater, 2 coats\.

Knickers in a Knot
Knickers in a Knot was another polish hanging out with the limited edition polishes. A pink/red polish that is very vibrant. I just loved the name, it made me giggle. My mum loves to ask me why my knickers are in a knot when I get cranky. Once again excellent coverage, 2 coats.

Satine
Satine wasn't in the new display, it was hiding in behind some other colour, all by its little lonesome. I bought Satine as a polish to try for a wedding colour. I'm quite impressed. Yes sure its sheer but it's very pretty and built up quite nicely. I love that its an ivory, off white not a white polish. I think it's very flattering. I just wish it had some shimmer, I may need to try Essie, Kisses and Bisses layered with it.  This is 3 thicker coats.

Opps...I'm an Addict

I really need to go on a no buy. This pay I got a bonus...a small one...and some back pay...a small amount. Either way I ended up with more money than usual...and now I have much less money than usual. What happened?

I know what happened...I bought too much nail polish :(

It started on ebay...I just had to have the Zoya Sparkle collection.

Alegra, Gilda and Nidhi.
Ivanka, Charla and Mimi
Then my spending continued at Farmers, where I must have been the first person to pounce on the Nicole Justin Beiber polishes...

My Life Saver, Me+Blue, One Less Lonely Glitter, Step to the Beat of My Heart and OMB!
Admittedly I did go back over the week...Now they only have My Life Saver and Step to the Beat of My Heart Left. I was so lucky to manage to pick up One Less Lonely Glitter.

Whilst hunting for One Less Lonely Glitter I began to feel despondent...and just had to buy two Australis polishes to cheer myself up...

Sin City and Limited Edition 1.
After all my spending at Farmers I had earned enough beauty points for a $20 voucher, which I of course had to spend. Australis nail polishes were 15% off and look at that lime green, it has shimmer as well!

Limited Edition 2, Satin and Knickers in a Knot.
And just because I have a problem...when I spotted these gorgeous glass fleck Maybellines from the 2009 Summer collection...well they needed to come home with me as well.

Mandarin Heat, Blazing Berry, Magenta Shock and Aqua Electric.
Unfortunately that's not the worst thing I did. I ordered 5 more Deborah Lippmann polishes and the complete Starry Temptress and Wicked Sweet collections from Color Club. I also managed to order a new battery for my HP mini...but at least that's something I actually needed!

Someone should start a therapy group for nail addicts.
I truly do feel awful about my spending...but then I see the pretty colours and feel happy. It's a vicious cycle. Someone cut up my credit card please.

Nail Adventures...

Wow...I have never ever had to visit more than one shop to find a nail polish I just couldn't live without...
Ok so I do mainly buy my polishes online, but as far as I know I can't get the Nicole OPI Justin Beiber polishes online. Well at least not cheaply.

I picked up Me+Blue and Step to the Beat of My Heart on Saturday.

Step to the Beat of My Heart and Me+Blue
I left the store stoked with my new polishes...and then I started thinking...I needed One Less Lonely Glitter. There was only one left, and by the time I wanted it the store was closing. I vowed to head in on Sunday and buy it at opening. But Sunday had different ideas, and I ended up having brunch out and going to the airport.

On the way we managed to stop at three other Farmers stores trying to find the polish that I just had to have.
Lambton Quay had everything but OLLG. Kilbirnie had nothing, they had the tiniest OPI stand ever. Cuba St had nothing, although they had the larger OPI stand. I even tried Kirkcaldies and Stains...I was desperate.

On our way back out of Wellington to the Hutt Valley we stopped at Queensgate Farmers. The store I had originally seen OLLG at...the one where they only had one left on Saturday.
Fortunately they still had that same one left at cosing on Sunday. Although they had no Me+Blue left.

I decided to buy OMB! as well, just so I had no more regrets...although now I'm eyeing up My Lifesaver...

One Less Lonely Glitter and OMB!
One Less Lonely Glitter
It was totally worth the effort to find it!

I didn't come away from the Kilbirnie Farmers empty handed either. They had a display with some Australis limited edition polishes. I purchased Limited Edition One...it looks quite perplexy, and Sin City...omg black with glass flecks...delicious! If you bought two or more you received a free gift, nail polish remover wipes. score :)
