Darling Diva Polish: Just Keep Swimming

I'm in recovery mood today. We had drinks last night at our house.
So just a short post today, in between trying to tidy the house and nursing my headache.

Today I have a super fun polish to show. Darling Diva Polish Just Keep Swimming.
It's Finding Nemo inspired! So it had to swim into my cart.

I had a lot of trouble finding a base colour I liked to use with Just Keep Swimming. The base is blue tinted and there are dark blue, bright blue, neon yellow, black and white glitters. I tried it over white, of course the white glitter wasn't shown off to its best and the base looked odd to me. I tried it over CG Sky High but it was too dusty... I tried it over black but still didn't like it.

In the end I went to my good old favourite blue Sinful Colors Grecian Sun. I really should buy a back up.
I love this combo, so fun and bright and summer ready!

Did anyone else buy a 5 for $25 mystery pack from Darling Diva Polish? I did! I can't wait to see what awesomness arrives.

Darling Diva Polish: The 13th Colony

Wow, I'm over half way through my holidays and haven't achieved half of what I wanted to.
Last school holidays I was working most of the time trying to get portfolios (reports but much more work) done. So this school holidays I've kind of just wanted to do nothing.

I have managed to re-swatch my entire China Glaze collection though! That was no small feat.
I have also been working hard to get back into a good routine of exercise and healthier eating.
I still haven't manage to get into a good routine of doing the 30 day shred everyday, but I have been doing 20-30 min on the elliptical and trying to do at least a 30 min walk everyday. Unfortunately yesterday the weather turned against me.

Darling Diva Polish is one of the first indie brands I bought and not too long ago I made my second order.

Today I have The 13th Colony to show you.
I am somewhat a nerd when it comes to tv choices, but in all honesty I have never watched Battlestar Galatica, so I have no clue of the meaning behind the polish. All I knew was when I saw swatches of The 13th Colony I had to have it.

I love the mix of glitter, and this was only one coat of The 13th Colony. My favourite thing about the polish is white glitters, gorgeous.

I actually received my DDP order just after my Candeo order and as soon as I opened it my hear sank a little. I had been so excited about about The 13th Colony but when I opened my parcel I was immediately reminded of Candeo Dive Bomb.

But the good news is they are nothing alike!

The similarity is that they both have blues and teals and copper. The difference is 13th Colony has white and green glitter, and the glitter is different sizes.

Totally worth owning both!

Winner

That's right recently I was a winner.
Generally I'm a highly unlucky person when it comes to giveaways and draws (although I count myself highly lucky in life in general!)

but I was a winner! I won Michaela from Nail Polish Anon NZ Giveaway.

I was lucky enough to receive Sinful Colors Cinderella, Sally Hansen Aisle Be There and a French Tip Dipping system.

Sinful Colors Cinderella
I had Cinderella already, but had de-stashed it and was feeling a bit remorseful. I mean it is named after a princess... I do need to have anything and everything princess related! I must have been having a bad hand day when I decided to part with it originally, because re-swatching it with the gorgeous bottle Michaela sent me made me love it all over again.

Aisle be There
Aisle be There is so pretty. I really should try it out over some other colours... I'm thinking a nice dark dusty blue... I love this picture in the shade it really shows the beauty of the polish.

What I was most excited to try though was the French Tip dipping system. I suck at doing free hand tips, so you've probably never seen me attempt a french manicure before.

This is my first ever attempt using the French Tip Dip kit and wow was it easy. All I needed to do was decant a little white polish into a pottle, dip the plastic guide in, swipe it on my nail...and we're done. I had a little bit of issues matching which tip I should use to my nails. I used the smallest on my ring and pinky and the 2nd smallest on my middle and pointer.

Thanks Michaela!

Girly Bits: Drool Worthy Spammage

I have had this post all ready to go for a couple of weeks now...

When it comes to Girly Bits polishes I have this strange compulsion to collect them all... I need need need Razzle Dazzle at the moment and January Snow (So I'm up to date with the Calendar collection).

I seem to be amassing a collection of blue/purple blend glitter polishes. At some stage I will have to do a comparison between Dollish Polish Super Bass, Pahlish Train Under Water and Girly Bits Daddy's Little Girl.

Anyway enjoy the spammage.

Sinful Colors

Well my holidays are totally not how I expected them. Nick's off work and totally messing up all my plans. He might be back at work on Thursday... I love him to bits but I had me/work time planned for the holidays... and I'm the worst nurse ever.

I'm currently going through my folder of nail pics, cleaning up and working out what has/hasn't been posted. I found a whole folder of Sinful Colors beauties that I never posted. Shame on me! These are too gorgeous to hide away in a folder on my desktop. Most of these are from the Castaway collection.

Zeus
Oh Zeus how I love you! I would marry you, if I wasn't already married. Zeus is a dusty greyed out purpley/bluey colour with the most amazing pink shimmer. I've seen some people complain about sheerness but my bottle was perfect. I used two coats here.

Greek Isles
So everyone knows any shade of blue/green is my favourite colour ever, so I had to have Greek Isles. it's darker than China Glaze For Audrey but I've seen a comparison or two say it's dupey of Zoya Wednesday.

Grecian Sun
Grecian Sun is my go to blue. I love it. Such a bright, fun, happy colour. I have made a serious dent in my bottle already. Grecian Sun was two coats of perfection. I really do love Sinful Colors cremes.

Neptune
Neptune. Argh, Sinful Colors why do you include a Roman god in a Greek collection? At least Neptune is a very pretty blue with serious shimmer. I found Neptune a pain to work with. Kind of gluggy? But it makes up for it being such a stunning colour.

Island Coral
Island Coral is the first polish I have today that is not from the Castaway collection. It is more of a jelly finish, very squishy. It's pretty but kind of boring. Good for a lady like spring day?

Pandora
Pandora is a bit of a weird one. Actually I'm lost for words trying to describe the colour... but what ever shade of orange you would call it... Pandora looks out of place among the blues and greens. Pandora does have some pretty shimmer though and an easy formulae to work.

Cinderella
Cinderella is another polish not from the Castaway collection. I bought this one for the name. I am a Disney princess at heart after all. Unfortunately I didn't like Cinderella on me at all. This was three coats.

Olympia
Olympia was my surprise love from the Castaway collection. I really didn't expect to love this odd shade of green but I do. It looks amazing on and has a fantastic formulae. I really can't fault Sinful Colors cremes.

Athens
Athens is the last one I have from the castaway collection. It's darker than Greek isles and I actually like Athens more. Once again, Athens had a fantastic formulae and I used two coats.
