Can You Help?

I feel a little  bad posting this...but I'm desperate.

I've been seeing pictures and I thought I could live without...but I can't. I must have the Essence Twins Bella and Edward in my life. No it's not because I have an obsession with Twilight, just an unhealthy obsession with nail polish and I need everything in that gorgeous blue/green, green/blue shade.
It's my favourite colour!

If you're able to help I'm more than happy to swap things, pay money, send chocolates, be a life long slave... ok maybe not a life long slave, but I'll love you forever.

I'm just not able to swap nail polish :( I've had two parcels stopped at customs and I'm a little bit of a wuss to try again.

Glitter Gal: 3d Holographic Silver

I showed off the gorgeous bottle shots of Glitter Gal Silver and Frappe yesterday. If you thought they looked amazing in the bottle...they're insane on the nail!

I'm going to have to say that Silver is my new favourite nail polish. I'm not normally a silver girl, but I loved the way Silver looked on my nails...even in shade and low light. And when I saw it in the sun...WOW! It is insanely holographic. I can see what Glitter Gal mean when they say they use true holographic particles.

Anyway pictures...these are after 2 days of wear...and still look amazing. I took pictures several times during the day to showcase the polish in different lights. I used three coats of Silver and 1 coat of Seche Vite.

Late at night in the light of my bedside lamp. Drooooool.
A few rays of sunshine poked through my classroom window after the rain. Gotta love the whiteboard marker!

Making the most of the last sunlight of the day to capture gorgeous holo goodness!
Under artificial light, when there are only a few beams of sun poking between the clouds and even when the sun is trying to set and making everything look golden, there is still holo. Silver is an amazing polish. I'm lucky enough to own several silver holo's including China Glaze Sexagon and I think Glitter Gal Silver is the best hands down. I'll do a comparison when the sun decides to play nice again.

If you're in New Zealand and want to get your hands on Silver or any of the other stunning Glitter Gal colours contact Lisa on polishqueenNZ@gmail.com or check out polishqueennz on trade me.

More info on Glitter Gal 3d Holographic polishes:

Glitter Gal Holographic nail polish
We use “true” holographic particles in our formulation.  This one ingredient is 30 times more expensive than any other nail polish ingredient.  Thus making our holographic nail polish the highest quality possible.  You will notice the smoothness to the finish of polish, and reflective effects are amazing.  They are also the “Big 3 Free”.

Many other companies have tried create holographics, but use the more affordable ingredients, which don’t give the polishes the same effect, we didnt want to compromise on quality and wanted to deliver to our customers a true holographic formulation.

Glitter Gal in New Zealand

Over the last year Glitter Gal polishes have been showing up all over blogs, causing me to drool. Have you seen the gorgeous sparkly holoness? As soon as pics began popping up I googled Glitter Gal to see how I could get my hands on these amazing polishes.

I found out Glitter Gal was an Australian company and I'd need to order from Australia. Unfortunately for me the New Zealand dollar isn't so good against the Aussie and my credit card would have cried a lot at the currency conversion. So I never managed to get my hands on the Glitter Gal holos.

The good news is that New Zealanders can now get their hands on Glitter Gal polishes. We don't need to order from Australia or scour ebay. Glitter Gal now have a New Zealand stockist. Check out polishqueennz on trade me or email Lisa on polishqueenNZ@gmail.com.

I was lucky enough to be sent two gorgeous bottles of polish for review. Check out these bottle shots!

Frappe and Silver
Frappe
I'm wearing Silver in these pictures and have been for the last three days. I have no intention of ever taking it off....seriously Silver is just that pretty. Hopefully the sun will play nice with me today so I can take some pictures of Frappe. I plan to post my review of these polishes later today.

You may have noticed that Glitter Gal polishes are smaller than usual. They are 9ml bottles. The reasoning behind this is that Glitter Gal uses true holographic particles which is expensive. To keep the polishes affordable the bottles are smaller.

ORLY Birds of a Feather

I've self diagnosed myself to be suffering from end-of-school-term-itis. I'm tired and achey, moody and headachey and my voice is going in and out. It's most definitely near the the end of term. The kids are all tired and cranky as well. Normally it would be the school holidays now, but thanks to the Rugby World Cup we still have 2 weeks to go.

I was very excited for the Orly Birds of a Feather collection. A purple toned flakey? Shimmery blue? they sound like my kind of colours! I rushed to Fowl Play as soon as I knew it was out. Sweet Peacock had to wait a couple of weeks but there was a buy one get one free special on Orly so I was determined to have Sweet Paecock and Nite Owl. I thought that Nite Owl would be the easy one to find...wrong. There were none left at all, anywhere that I looked. So I picked my Sweet Peacock and a bottle of Fowl Play for mum. Yup there was a bottle of Fowl Play but no Nite Owl!

Last week I wondered into Farmers on the off chance there could be something I wanted, I had a $20 beauty club voucher. Revlon display...nothing, Butter London...nothing, Opi...nothing. And then I thought I'd try one last time for Nite Owl at the Orly display. The Birds of a Feather display was long gone but a bottle hidden in the core collection caught my eye...Nite Owl! Someone had stuffed it in the back...but it was mine now.

Anyway enough rambling on to pictures!

Fowl Play

Nite Owl

Sweet Peacock
All three polishes are so different and I'd most definitely say they were must haves. I didn't feel the need to purchase the other three in the collection but pictures I've seen look gorgeous. All in all Orly had a winner with this collection.

OPI Love is a Racket and Pros and Bronze

I have a headache and want to get some shut eye, so this will be a short post.

I've really enjoyed the Serena Williams collaboration with OPI. Well I've really enjoyed the polishes! The final set, released for the US Open, consists of a very sparkly red and a gorgeous peachy metallic, almost duo-chrome.

I'm not a red person, but Love is a Racket is very pretty.

Love is a Racket
Pros and Bronze is a difficult colour to describe., I wouldn't call it a bronze. A peachy metallic with rose gold tones? I may not be able to describe it, but Pros and Bronze is still a gorgeous colour.

OPI Miss Universe

I spent Tuesday evening watching the Miss Universe competition and thinking I totally should have been wearing Crown Me Already. I just love watching to see the evening gowns to be honest and wow, didn't Miss Ukraine look amazing in her dress? And Miss Angola was incredibly beautiful.

Anyway...nail polish! To coincide with the 60th annual Miss Universe pageant OPI released four gorgeous polishes.

Swimsuit...Nailed It!
Swimsuit...Nailed It! with one coat of Crown Me Already on the ring finger.
Swimsuit...Nailed It! is a stunning blue shimmery polish. It's such a vibrant blue...I'm in love! They totally nailed this colour (yup I'm that lame!)

It's My Year
It's My Year with one coat of Crown Me Already on the ring finger.
I like Its My Year a lot more than I thought I would. I like it more than Rally Pretty Pink, although it's along the same lines. It's My Year has a more purple toned base and I think it looks amazing. Just look how sparkly it is.

Congeniality is My Middle Name
Congeniality is My Middle Name with one coat of Crown Me Already on the ring finger.
Ok so firstly I wouldn't use Crown Me Already with Congeniality is My Middle Name! But Congeniality is My Middle Name is a very pretty berry coloured polish with shimmer. My bottle needs a serious shake up as the shimmer seems to have settled. I'm not sure if that will make it more shimmery...either way it's different enough from The One that Got Away for me so I like it.

Crown Me Already
Crown Me Already....sparkly silver glitter. Need I say more? The larger hex glitter makes this one stand out. I used three coats here and would happy to wear it alone. You can check back at my other pics and see one coat is rather dense!

And now for something not so beautiful...Don't try this at home. Pink Shatter on top of Crown Me Already...now that's a mess!

Crown Me Already with Pink Shatter
And a mice related update. Our little babies are now 3 weeks old. They all have their eyes open and are starting to eat solids. They're fluffy, adorable and fast! I have a billion photos, but just haven't had time to sort them. Hopefully I'll be able to post them this weekend. I need to post them on my class blog for the kids as well.

Pink Wednesday...Another Awesome Combo!

I'm on a roll with the awesome combinations at the moment.
First it was Zoya Janna and OPI Movin' Out. Today it's Revlon Grapefruit Fizz and OPI Pink Shatter.

I painted my nails with Revlon Grapefruit Fizz last night. Boy was I disappointed. It was sheer and seemed to be taking forever to dry. I slapped on some SV and waited till it was touch dry and threw on OPI Pink Shatter. I went to bed 2 hours later and it was still impressionable. I expected to have a mess to clean up in the morning. I was dreading it. The shatter hadn't even improved my feelings towards the mani.

What a difference day light makes compared to yellow bulb light.

Revlon Grapefruit Fizz and OPI Pink Shatter
And it's rock solid this morning, with no dents and sheet marks. High fives all round!

Sure it's still got some visible nail line but wow is it ever girly and pretty and pink.
Grapefruit fizz is just right to compliment the pink shatter.

OPI Movin' Out

A little while ago  I ordered OPI Movin' Out. Movin' Out was one of those polishes that has been all over the blogs lately. It is a gorgeous, though rather sheer mauve with some stunning duochrome sparkles.

I tried it out firstly by itself... disaster. It looked awesome after 4 coats but even though I painted my nails at 7.30pm and didn't go to bed until 11pm it was a mangled mess of dents and sheet marks when I woke up. Not a good look.

On Monday I decided to go with a fall creme, Janna from Zoyas autumn collection.

Zoya Janna (2 coats)
By Monday night I was feeling bored with Janna and longing for something a little more springtastic. That's when I saw my bottle of Movin' Out and inspiration hit me. Janna was the perfect base for Movin' Out...I loved this combo. My kids were enthralled by my colour changing nail polish.

2 coats of OPI Movin' Out over Zoya Janna
I haven't done Movin' Out justice but trust me this combo was amazing! It let the colours of Movin' Out shine but added that extra depth and opacity that it needed.

China Glaze Rapture

Just a quick post to show off this pretty China Glaze polish. Rapture is a pinky red polish with tiny holo glitters. Very pretty and very spring appropriate. I love how Rapture sparkles in the sun. The base colour is thin enough that the glitter sparkles through.

China Glaze Rapture
Rapture is harder to find, but I got this bottle on ebay when I purchased OPI Crim-sun and Blue Moon Lagoon. It wasn't hideously expensive either. I did need to use three coats...but three coats is standard for me anyway!

This was supposed to be my pink Wednesday post...but it can be a lazy Sunday post instead!

Black Out!

I can't pretend to be the biggest rugby supporter, but I can't hide from the Rugby World Cup this month!

Today was the opening ceremony so we had our own opening ceremony at school.
We wore black and hoisted the New Zealand flag. We sang God Save New Zealand and introduced the 'All Blacks'.

In honour of our Black out day I wore my newest black polish. China Glaze Haunting. The silver glitter tied in nicely to represent the silver fern...

China Glaze Haunting
I watched the opening ceremony and the first few minutes of the game between New Zealand and Tonga...but I couldn't last. I'm just really not into watching rugby. I'll be checking the score regularly though! I like the score just not so much the game.

Zoya Mirrors

We had a beautiful sunny day last Saturday so I swatched a bunch of polishes. Hopefully it's a gorgeous sunny day this Saturday. I'm ready for summer, bring on the sun!

One of the collections I managed to swatch was the Zoya Mirrors collection. I must say I love Zoya I just wish that Zoya polishes were easier to get. That I didn't have to find e-tailers willing to ship to NZ. Yes I know that there's a website I can get Zoya from in New Zealand but $21 a bottle? and they only just got the Intimates collection?

Anyway...Zoya Mirrors...AWESOME.

Yara
Yara is a gorgeous olive green with gold shimmer. A very pretty colour that is not your usual.

Neeka
Neeka is my favourite of the bunch.A gorgeous smokey purple with seriously pretty shimmer. Love.

Marina
I wasn't sure I would like the three metallic colours in the collection. I found them much better than I'd anticipated. Not streaky at all.Marina is a gorgeous greyed metallic blue.

Jem
I know a lot f people are complaining that Jem is a dupe of a Valerie, but I still love Jem. It has slighty more gold to it in my opinion. Either way I kept Jem and gifted Valerie to mum.

Nimue
Nimue is my least favourite of the collection. Greyed lilac. It looks kind of wishy washy on me...well at least I think it looks wishy washy.

Tao
I like Tao more than I thought I would. Tao is actually a really nice grey metallic. Soft yet stylish.

So there you have it the Zoya Mirrors collection.

In other news Smokey has found her tail.
